Diezani rents London flat, as rooted wealth fades away…

Diezani Alison-Madueke, former minister of petroleum resources, is no longer the woman she used to be.

The multi-million dollar jewelry and multi-million dollar houses are fading into history as she comes to terms with the new realities of her life.

TheCable understands that with her UK property worth over £11 million now treated as “proceed of crime” and subject to forfeiture, she has had to “stepdown” her taste: she now lives in a rented flat in the same London building housing the $2.8 million property allegedly bought for her by Jide Omokore and Gbenga Aluko, her business associates.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has frozen accounts linked to the former minister, including those belonging to family members and known associates.

This makes it virtually impossible for her to access money from any source and she is now living off the goodwill of those who still remember her.

Nigerian courts have already forced Alison-Madueketo forfeit her property at Banana Island, Lagos. It reportedly has 24 apartments, 18 flats and six penthouses valued at $37.5 million.

She was also recently forced to forfeit about N7.6 billion “hidden” in a Nigerian bank, in addition to the temporary forfeiture of property worth $21,392,224 across Nigeria.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONALBY PASTOR
E. A ADEBOYE

DATE: TUESDAY 29TH AUGUST 2017

THEME: CHOSEN FOR DIVINE PURPOSE
Memorise:
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;                                                     1 Peter 2:9

Read:  Acts 17:24-31

17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:
17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.
17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men everywhere to repent:
17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

Message:

Many Christians interpret today’s memory verse with the notion that God favors some individuals or groups of people over others. This idea eventually developed into the doctrine of “Election”, which suggest that some people are predestined for salvation and others for damnation. Consequently, this doctrine of election has raised a lot of difficult questions in the minds o several people. Why should a just and loving God favor certain individuals or groups of people over others? Why should a loving God command the elimination of some people without mercy? A proper and diligent study of the Bible would lay these questions to rest permanently. Even a cursory look at the word of God shows clearly that God is good to all. He is not partial; neither is He a respecter of persons (Acts 10:34).

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life" John 3:16

The above scripture makes it clear that Jesus was given for all men and woman from all nations on the face of the earth, and anyone who believes in Him will obtain salvation. Therefore, those with warped interpretations of Scriptures that present our God in bad light, all in the name of “theology”, are not speaking the mind of God. Through the manifestation of Jesus Christ, the whole world, without exception, stands before God with equal opportunity and access to the grace, mercy, favor and love of God. Romans 10:13 says,

“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

No matter who you are, you can come to Jesus with boldness and He will never reject or turn you down. The statement in 1 Peter 2:9 is therefore absolutely correct for everyone who has accepted the Lordship of Jesus Christ over their lives. If you are one of such people, you can say with certainty that you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and a member of a holy nation. You are specially chosen to live in holiness and righteousness, to show forth the glory of God in all ramifications of life, and to live in good health, joy and peace. Since you have been chosen for divine purpose, I pray that you will surely fulfill your destiny in Jesus’ Name.

Action Point:
Thank God for who you are in Christ Jesus as revealed in 1 Peter 2:9. Confess each of the titles that describe your standing in Christ in this verse on Scripture.

Ohanaeze condemns FG’s bid to revoke Kanu’s bail, accuses AGF of bias..

The apex socio-political association of the Igbo, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned moves by the Federal Government to re-arrest the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is being prosecuted before an Abuja Federal High Court on treasonable felony charges.Kanu was granted bail on April 25, 2017, after spending several months in detention. But, in an application which was reportedly served on Kanu on Friday, the Federal Government asked the court to revoke the bail granted the IPOB leader, and also order his immediate arrest by the police.

The Federal Government’s motion seeking therevocation of Kanu’s bail was hinged on the grounds that the IPOB leader had flouted the terms and conditions of the bail granted him by Justice Binta Nyako.

The Federal Government noted that Kanu violated the bail conditions by granting interviews and holding rallies which attracted crowds that exceeded 10 persons, contrary tothe orders of the court.

The IPOB leader was equally described as a threat to national security for inaugurating an illegal security outfit known as Biafra SecurityService.

However, reacting to the development on Saturday, President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, accused the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, ofbias.

Speaking in a statement entitled ‘Attorney General of the Federation, please respect youroath of office!’, the Ohanaeze leader noted that the bail conditions handed down by the court violated Kanu’s human rights.

Nwodo wondered why the AGF would move to re-arrest Kanu, when he (AGF) did not take any step to check the activities of the Arewa youths, who, he said, only ‘pretended’ to withdraw the quit notice they issued to Igbo in the North.

Buhari’s return: Aso Villa cabal stages a comeback, sidelines Osinbajo..

With the return of President Muhammadu Buhari from London, United Kingdom, where he spent 104 days receiving medical treatment, the cabal in the Presidency has again gained control of power and influence, according to Punch.

The Buhari presidency has been dogged by persistent rumours and speculation that a group comprising some members of the President’s extended family and friends are the powers behind the throne.

This group is said to have the ear of the President, influence policy-making and determine those who get major appointments.

Among those identified as being members of the cabal were: the President’s nephew, Mamman Daura; the father to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (Muhammed Bello) Musa Bello; the President’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari; Samaila Isa Funtua and a few others.

While Buhari was away, Osinbajo who stood for him as Acting President held sway and won the admiration of many Nigerians and foreigners for the life he injected into government.

Although the Vice President was said to have consulted the President in London before taking major decisions, he reportedly did not consult the members of the cabal whose influence ebbed considerably during the period.

A source who is close to the president said, “While Buhari was away, they tried to ensure that Osinbajo was not in control of the government, by keeping away information from Osinbajo.

Kyari’s main job in the villa is to make Osinbajo look bad.”However, with the return of the President, the cabal is said to be back in power.

Reliable sources who are privy to the goings-on in the corridors of power described the President’s return as ‘bittersweet’.They claimed that with the President’s return, the cabal had taken over again.

“They seem to have a disproportionate influence on what he (Buhari) does, what he says, and who he appoints. This cannot be in doubt; it is the fact of thematter,” one of the sources said.

EVERLASTING FATHER Thursday August 17 2017

Memorise:
I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Revelation 1:8

Read:
Isaiah 9:6-7
Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

Message:
A father is the male personality among the two parents from whom children originate. Parents are uniquely linked to their children by blood, and they are the source of the fundamental and distinctive characteristics of their children. This special connection is responsible for the usual display of filial affection between parents and their children. There is a kind of deep love, compassion, dedication, trust, respect, devotion and loyalty that usually exists in the relationship between parents and their children that may not exist in other forms of relationships. Furthermore, good fathers are known to provide leadership, protection, provision, discipline, spiritual guidance, and emotional stability for members
of their family. Obviously, mothers are equally important and their role as parents and leaders in the family cannot be
overemphasised. However, under normal circumstances, the balance of a family is usually maintained by its organisation around a father-figure. This is why homes without a father usually end up as dysfunctional families. I therefore pray that God will restore all broken homes, support all single parents, and rebuke death in our families in the Name of Jesus.

Meanwhile, there is a Father of fathers that can do far more than any earthly father. He is the ever present one who can never die. He is called the Everlasting Father in Isaiah 9:6. Through this Name, the Holy Spirit is indicating to us that all those who trust in God and yield to the Lordship of Jesus Christ will never be without a Father.

Because Jesus is the Everlasting Father, true Christians can enjoy all the benefits of divine fatherhood unhindered for eternity. When the storms of life rage or when you are overwhelmed by difficult circumstances, you can safely trust in the love and support
of the Everlasting Father. When poverty, failure, sickness or death stares you in the face, just call upon the Everlasting Father, and your night will be turned to day. If you are out of tune with your Creator, if you are perpetually living under the influence of any power that is beyond your control, if your life is upside down and you are desperately looking for a way out, then I have good news for you. Jesus is the Everlasting Father with compassion for His children. He pities his children and shelters them with His love (Psalm 103:13). His mercy endures forever and you can anticipate his forgiveness with joy. Above all, these benefits are yours to enjoy for eternity, if only you surrender your life to Him. I
decree to every troubled soul that is reading this devotional, receive the intervention of the Everlasting Father now in the Name of Jesus.

Action Point:
Pray that the Everlasting Father will heal every broken home and dysfunction in your family and local church.

Kachikwu Dissociates Himself From From Fake Campaign Posters Our attention has been drawn to fake campaign posters of the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu for the 2019 governorship elections in Delta State pasted by unknown persons across the Federal Capital Territory.

The office of the Honourable Minister of State for Petroleum Resources hereby dissociates itself fromthe campaign posters which he has absolutely no knowledge of.

He remains committed to effectively representing his state of origin, Delta State in the federal cabinet to institutionalise transparency, accountability and productivity in the Nigerian oil and gas sector.

We Are Not Joining ASUU Strike, OAU VC Blows Hot..

The Vice Chancellor of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile- Ife, Eyitope Ogunbodede, says teachers of the university are not taking part in the indefinite strike declared by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on Monday.

According to the vice-chancellor, the lecturers of the university have no interest in the strike and would thus continue with their academic activities.“OAU is not on strike. As at today, no lecturer has told me that they want to go on strike.

We are not participating in any national strike,” Mr. Ogunbodede told Premium Times on phone.

“If they tell me they want to go on strike, then it is a different case, as such, I must have seen that all of my academic staff want to go on strike. In OAU, we have ‘unions’; neither of the two has told me they want to go on strike so we are not joining any strike at all.

Corruption worsening under Buhari, says Jonathan.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday  boasted that his record of fighting corruption was greater than that of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Jonathan said this in a post on his official Facebookpage which was signed on his behalf by one of his aides, Reno Omokri.

The ex-President posted the message in reaction to an allegation by the Director General of theVoice of Nigeria, Mr. Osita Okechukwu.

Okechwuku had said rather than plug loopholes that allowed for corruption, Jonathan opened them up further, contrary to his speech at the non-elective convention of the Peoples Democratic Party, which held on Saturday.

However, Jonathan said he fought corruption to the extent that Nigeria’s ranking on Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index improved.Jonathan said,

“It may surprise Mr. Okechukwu and his boss to know that the last time Nigeria made progress on Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index was in 2014 under former President Jonathan when we moved eight places from number 144 to number 136 under Goodluck Jonathan.

“That year marked the most improvement Nigeria has ever made since Transparency International began publishing the annual Corruption Perception Index in 1995.

Transparency International took note of the Jonathan administration’s e-wallet system that cut out the corruption in Nigeria’s fertiliser procurement system, the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System which weededout 50,000 ghost workers from the federal civil service, the cashless policy and the fact that the Jonathan government promptly fired two ministers (Prof. Barth Nnaji and Stella Oduah) mentioned in corruption scandals.

The ex-President said ever since his exit, Nigeria’s corruption perception in the outside world had not improved.

Jonathan said rather than fight corruption holistically, the Buhari administration had only succeeded in deceiving Nigerians.

He added, “Ever since 2014, Nigeria has not improved in Transparency International’s annual Corruption Perception Index ranking and has remained 136 in 2015 and is still 136 on the latest CPI ranking released in 2017.

In the most recent CPI Transparency International report and I quote ‘some other large African countries have failed to improve their scores on the index. These include South Africa, Nigeria, Tanzania and Kenya.

If it were true that the Buhari administration was really fighting corruption, why hasn’t Nigeria made progress in the CPI? The answer is because you can deceive some gullible Nigerians but you cannot deceive Transparency International.

‘I cannot forfeit what was never mine, I never stole Nigeria’s money’, says Diezani Madueke..

FormerMinister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Allison Madueke, has broken her long silence on several allegations of financial impropriety levelled against her by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and said she never stole Nigeria’s money.

Mrs. Madueke, in a statement issued yesterday, a copy of which was made available to Daily Sun, said she decided to respond to the allegations because the EFCC was taking advantage of her silence to try and convict her in the media.

The EFCC had alleged that the former minister, by anorder of a Federal High Court has forfeited $153.3 million to the Federal Government. In her reaction, Mrs.

Madueke denied ever owning such money and said she was never notified of formal charges, if truly there was a prima facie evidence or indictment against her regarding the said issue.

I wish to state I cannot forfeit what was never mine.I do not know the basis on which the EFCC has chosen to say that I am the owner of these funds as no evidence was provided to me before the order was obtained, and they have not, in fact, served me with the order or any evidence since they obtained it.

“Let me re-state categorically as I have always maintained, for the record, I have not and will never steal money from or defraud the Federal Government of Nigeria.

I am willing to respond to charges brought against me that follow duly laid down procedures,” she said.

She challenged the anti-graft agency to also publish details of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation’s (NNPC’s) accounts from where the said $153.3 million was taken, with proof that she authorised such a transaction/transactions, acting either in her private capacity or as a minister, since the EFCC alleged that the said $153.3 million was ‘wired’ from NNPC.

She also debunked the report that Italian prosecutors indicted her for sharing in the loot of the$1.3 billion OPL 245 oil block deal, which involved Malabu and the Joint Venture Multinational partners,ENI (AGIP) and Royal Dutch.

Let me once again state for the record that this is another figment of the author’s imagination, which, given the persistent bid to ensure my destruction and stick all of the sins of the corruption that plagued oil and gas sector in the last 30 years upon my head, probably emanated from the EFCC itself.
Let me clear the history of OPL 245, otherwise known as Malabu. You will find a full chronology in the attached report that I made to the House of Representatives in late 2011 (Annex 2A/Annex-2B).

In 2010, shortly after I was appointed as Minister of Petroleum Resources, the issue of OPL 245 was brought to my attention. I looked into the case and immediately became aware of the inherent and long standing sensitivities around this issue.

It became clear from the onset that this case was not within the direct purview of the Minister of Petroleum Resources, but, in the main, was centered around issues of law.

By this time, there was already an International Centre for Settlement of Investment Dispute (ICSID) investigation and claims against the FGN running into billions of dollars.

Therefore, we took directives from the Chief Legal Officer of the nation; the Attorney General and Minister of Justice. In all of these matters due process was followed to the letter at all times.

I wish to categorically state that I have never held any discussions on this matter, with any individuals or entities outside of official channels.

As Minister of Petroleum Resources, I did not participate in any activity relating to financial payments on the Malabu matter, other than those statutorily mandated to the Ministerof Petroleum Resources by the Petroleum Act.

My role in this matter was purely a statutory, one as required by law in the Petroleum Act 3,” she explained.

I don’t know who’s paying for Buhari’s treatment - Femi Adesina..

Femi Adesina, special adviser to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, says he is not sure if it is the federal government that is responsible for the medical bill of his principal.

Buhari has been receiving medical attention in London for the past 99 days and the issue of the cost has generated heated controversy between his supporters and opponents.

Before he left Nigeria on May 7, the president had spent 49 days in the United Kingdom, treating an undisclosed ailment.

When he appeared on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television, on Monday, Seun Okinbaloye, anchor of the programme, asked Adesina, “Who is paying for the president’s treatment?”“Does it matter at this point?” The presidential spokesman asked, to which Okinbaloye fired back: “We need to know, he is our president. He is a public official. This shouldn’t be shrouded in secrecy.

Then Adesina said: “I do not know who is paying, but as a president, he has a right  to be treated by the country.”“Nigeria is taking care of the bill?” Okinbaloye asked, and Adesina responded, “Most likely. I don not know for sure.

The presidential spokesman also discussed his experience with his principal at the Abuja House in London.Adesina was in the delegation that met Buhariduring the weekend.

The president I saw was sharp, he was smart, he was lucid. The president I saw was almost completely mending,” Adesina said.

COME YE APART II Friday August 4, 2017

Memorise:
If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master‘s use, and prepared unto every good work
2 Timothy 2:21

Read:
Acts 13:1-3
1 Now there were in the church that was at Antioch certain prophets and teachers; as Barnabas, and Simeon that was called Niger, and Lucius of Cyrene, and Manaen, which had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.
2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.
3 And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.

Message:
As discussed yesterday, "Come ye apart" is a call to cease from daily work in order to come before God in a solemn
assembly. Such calls by God to a solemn assembly are not mere religious exercises, but a time of settling important issues with Him. Hence, they are sometimes called during times of serious emergencies, as seen in Joel 1:14, where God said:

"Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly, Gather the elders and all the inhabitants of the land Into the house of the Lord your God, And cry unto the Lord,"

While the general purpose of calling a solemn assembly is to gather the people of God together for a special time of
worship in a state of purity, we also see God sometimes using such terms as "deny yourselves" or "afflict your souls" when He calls for a holy convocation (Leviticus 23:27). These terms refer to fasting or abstinence from food, drink entertainment, sexual pleasure or other things that delight the flesh. By making a deliberate effort to subjugate our Body to the dictates of the Spirit at such times, we are able to devote ourselves more fully to worshipping God during these special occasions. It's in light of such self-denial that the Bible in 2 Timothy 2:21 says,

"If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master‘s use, and prepared unto every good work"

Individually, each of us is only one out of the billions of vessels available for God's use. However, as vessels, we are each made of different kinds of resources, ranging from precious gems like gold and silver to cheaper materials like wood and clay. Obviously, some vessels are deployed for honourable use, while some others are to dishonour.

What is of utmost importance is the fact that the Master will only use the best. The vessel that would be found suitable for the Master‘s use must be purged of all errors and purified from all unrighteousness. In the Bible, purging refers to the confession and renunciation of sin, while purification refers to the process of removing impurities that interfere with a disciplined spiritual life. Are you interested in having a divine encounter with the Almighty God? Would you want to be a vessel of honour in the hands of the Master? Are you looking forward to being prepared for every good work?

Then, come ye apart in a holy convocation, purge and purify yourself so that you can become a vessel of honour in the hands of the Almighty. As you make effort to separate yourself unto God this season, He will find you suitable as a vessel unto honour and fill you up with His anointing in the Name of Jesus.

Prayer Point:
Father, help me to purge and purify myself, so that I may be found suitable for Your use.

Nigerian lady dies of malaria

Sochima Amanda Iloka, a graduate of NnamdiAzikiwe University, Awka died on Sunday after a brief illness.

According to her friends on Facebook, the deceased popularly known as "Soch Money" suffered from malaria before her death.

What a wicked world, where lambs live with wolves..

LAGOS—A 61-year-old landlord, Toafeek Hassan , was, yesterday, arrested with fresh human head and other body parts of a lady he was alleged to have murdered, at Ikoga community in Badagry area of Lagos, Sunday.

Vanguard gathered that the deceased, a yet-to-be identified lady, approached Hassan, a cleric, for spiritual cleansing in Sango Otta, due to some challenges she was facing.

Arrested Vanguard gathered that he was on his way to hand overthe needed body parts to a cleric yesterday, when he was accosted by curious people, as the bag was dripping blood.

When they forcefully took the bag from him, a female head, two wrists and a heart spilled out.

They raised alarm, which alerted other residents. But for the prompt intervention of policemen from Area ‘K’ Command, Badagry, Hassan would have been lynched by a mob, who tied his hands, legs and was dragging him on the ground.

Confession On interrogation before police arrived, Hassan disclosed that it was his second time of killing clients for the unnamed cleric for ritual purpose.

According to him, “she was not my direct client. A herbalist, Baba Ronke , brought her to me on Sunday.

One Alfa from Sango-Otta took her to him. He said that the woman was looking for spiritual solution.

“The Alfa from Otta uses human beings for rituals. He deceived the woman to Badagry, saying he was bringing her to a senior colleague, who would perform some cleansing by the river side on her. “Immediately they dropped the woman by the riverside they left, with a promise to wait for her at the bus stop.

While she was waiting, I came and did my part of the job.”Asked how he killed her, Hassan did not state clearly how he committed the act.

He only replied that “I began by asking her where she came from; she said she was from Ojodu Berger. I feltpity for her, but I could not help the situation.

“I was on my way to deliver the needed parts to the Alfa at Sango-Otta when I was arrested. This is my second time of working for Baba Ronke and Alfa.

Police sources hinted that his accomplices fled when news of Hassan’s arrest went round.Contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olarinde Cole-Famous, confirmed the incident, saying investigation was ongoing.

Pls Note....There is no solution anywhere except in Christ Jesus...Stop looking for spiritualist for cleasing or whatever you call it..

Trump signs Russia sanctions bill into law...

President Donald Trump has signed into law a package of sanctions against Russia, the White House said Wednesday, after he had privately opposed the measures and his aides had lobbied against them.

Two White House sources said Trump had signed the bill behind closed doors and away from the cameras — in signing it, he avoided the humiliating prospect of Congress overriding his veto.

The package introduces tough additional sanctions against Russia over alleged meddling in last year’s election and its annexation of the Crimea peninsula from Ukraine.

Oral sex can give you drug-resistant gonorrhoea — WHO warns again..

Drug-resistant gonorrhoea spreads from an infectedperson’s throat during oral sex, the World Health Organisation has warned.

The world health body says the human throat acts as a ‘silent reservoir’ for gonorrhoea, and that the problem is driving the drug-resistance crisis currently being experienced in the treatment of gonorrhoea.

Drug-resistant gonorrhoea can spread from an infected person’s throat during oral sex, without them even knowing they have the STI, an expert warns.

The WHO had warned in July that incurable gonorrhoea is on the rise due to oral sex and a decline in condom use as HIV fears lessen.

Head of the sexually transmitted infections programme at the Global Antibiotics Research and Development Partnership in Geneva, Dr. Emilie Alirol, said, “The throat infections act as a silent reservoir.

Transmission is very efficient from someone who has gonorrhoea in their throat to their partner via oral sex.

WHO confirmed that three people worldwide have developed ‘super gonorrhoea’, which is resistant to all forms of treatment.Globally, gonorrhoea infects around 78 million people each year.

Thirty percent of all new infectionsin the United States are resistant to at least one drug, according to the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Gonorrhoea infections in the throat are frequently overlooked, as the bacteria typically resides there in smaller numbers than in the genitals and is not easily picked up by swabs.

Oral infections are also difficult to treat, as antibiotics work in the bloodstream and there are few blood vessels in the throat.

Untreated, oral gonorrhoea can spread to the genitals, causing pelvic and testicular pain in men, and putting women at risk of pelvic inflammatory disease, ectopic pregnancies and even infertility.

Dr. Alirol said: “Women will bear a very high burden ifwe start having an increasing number of untreatable gonorrhoea cases.”

Lagos will become Africa’s third largest economy before I die – Obasanjo..

A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Wednesday, said Lagos will become Africa’s third largest economy in a very short time.

Mr. Obasanjo made this known at the book launch of a book titled, “Making Africa Work”, co-authored by the former president and three other authors.

The other authors are Greg Mills, Director of Brenthurst Foundation; Jeffrey Herbst, President of NEWSEUM and Dickie Davis, a retired major general.

The former president said the Lagos State government is working towards making the state an economic hub, which he jocularly said would come to fruition before he passes on.

Mr. Obasanjo, who is the chair of Brenthurst Foundation, disclosed that plans are underway for the foundation and Lagos state government to make the state the third largest economy on the continent.

“(Even though) People said I look like someone who is in the departure lounge,” Mr. Obasanjo said, “Lagos will become the third largest economy before I take my boarding pass.

The former president also said that Africa is not a poor continent, adding that the continent is only poor by choice.

Saraki bows to pressure, stops collection of pension in Kwara..

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said he has stopped collecting pension in Kwara as a former governor of the state.

He said, at the News Agency of Nigeria Forumin Abuja, that he wrote a letter to the state government to stop the payment of the pension.

According to Mr. Saraki, the move was sequelto complaints from some quarters that formergovernors who are currently senators or ministers were receiving pension and salary in their new jobs, all from the government.

A civil society organisation, Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), had accused the former governors of receiving double pay from government, and said it was illegal.

“No, I’m not collecting pension; the moment I saw that allegation, I wrote to my state to stop my pension.

So, I speak for myself on that part; I’m not doing that, I am not receiving pension from my state,’’ he said.On other senators involved on the issue, Mr. Saraki said, “I think I will leave everybody to their individual decision.

“Morally, if you have got another job, you should give it up until when you are truly a pensioner.“Some of these oversights are not addressingthe issues.

What the states should do is to go and amend their laws to say that if you have another appointment then you are not entitledto that benefit.“With this, we will just simplify the matter.

Nigerian woman divorces husband for being lazy in bed

A Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan on Tuesday dissolved the 10-year-old marriage between one Iyabo Adedayo and her husband, Babatunde,  over lack of sexual satisfaction and irresponsibility.

The President of the court, Mr Ademola Odunade, said that the marriage was dissolved due to irreconcilable differences.

“It is possible to take horse to the river, but impossible to force it to drink water.“The court tried to settle the matter between Iyabo and Babatunde, but there was no solution.

Therefore, in the interest of peaceful coexistence, the union between Iyabo and Babatunde has been terminated.

Iyabo shall take custody of the four children produced by the union.

Babatunde shall pay a monthly feeding allowance of N10, 000 for the upkeep of the children in addition to being responsible for their education and other welfare needs,” he said.Iyabo, the petitioner, had told the court that the respondent had been unable to satisfy her sexually.

My lord, I no longer have any feeling for Babatunde again; he is lazy in bed and he can no longer satisfy me sexually.

For so long, I had been coping with his inability to withstand my sexual urge, but I can’t cope with this any longer.

My husband is also unable to take care of the material needs of our children and I.“To worsen the situation, he derives pleasure in beating me at the slightest provocation,” Iyabo said.

The respondent, however, pleaded with the court to save his marriage.Babatunde, who urged Iyabo to give him another chance, said:  “My lord, please save my marriage, I still love my wife, I will turn a new leaf.

I cannot afford parting ways with my wife now. I amalready an old man; I can’t start looking for a new wife at my age.

OPEN HEAVENS DAILY DEVOTIONAL BY PASTOR E. A ADEBOYE

WEDNESDAY AUGUST 2ND 2017

THEME:
WANT YOUR PRAYERS ANSWERED?

MEMORISE:
Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. Proverb 21:13

READ:  Psalm 22:1-5

1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?

2 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.

3 But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

4 Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.

5 They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Kings 12-13, Ezekiel 18:30-19:14

MESSAGE:
There was a popular Mexican soap opera on the Nigerian television scene a few years ago titled “The Rich Also Cry”. The title of this drama gives credence to the fact that every human being, no matter how intelligent, wealthy, powerful or highly placed, would at one time or the other in life require assistance to deal with circumstances beyond human capability and control. The situation that renders a person of great means incapacitated is usually the type that money, authority and influence cannot resolve. At such times, a call for supernatural assistance or divine intervention through desperate prayers to the Almighty God is the only option left. I pray that as you call on the Name of the Lord in the day of trouble, He will answer you by fire in Jesus’ Name. However, if you want your prayers to be answered, you have a responsibility to ensure that you are not in the habit of blocking your ears to the petitions of the poor and needy ones around you. Our memory verse says that a person who heartlessly disregards the needs of the feeble, weak and helpless is wicked. The prayers of such a person will be disregarded in the day of trouble, no matter how desperate their cry for help may be.

It is common knowledge that many African nations and some developing countries around the world have suffered and are still suffering under corrupt, selfish and tyrannical leaders. Officials are known to be crooked, and a bribe is required before any service is rendered. Salary and wages are not paid when due, and they are sometimes delays for months on end by government and corporate employers. We have also seen some Christian ministers and cleric showing more interest in monetary gain than in serving God and the people. It is time for everyone involved in such evil acts to note that eternal damnation awaits them if they fail to repent. One of the terrible realities of our time is the fact that even the Church is falling short in fulfilling her responsibilities to the poor and needy. The church must not leave the less-privileged persons in our communities at the mercy of politicians and government officials, irrespective of their promises and political agenda for the poor. This is because God has neither suspended nor revoked our mandate to care for the poor. The body of Christ must wake up to the responsibilities of a loving and caring Church, if we want our collective prayers to be answered by God. I live my life in total dependence on the Almighty God as the Source of my life and all that I do; I am nothing without Him. I therefore, cannot even bear to imagine what my life would be like if God ceases to hear me when I call Him. I decree in the Name that is above all other names that heaven will never ignore your cry for Help in Jesus’ Name.

PPRAYER POINT:
Father, please give me grace to be a great source of assistance to impoverished people around the world in Jesus’ Name.

AMEN.
GOOD MORNING.
Grace is all we need to be a source of blessing without complaining.
