THEME: DON’T BE THE GUINEA PIG!
Memorise:
Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted. 1 Corinthians 10:6
Read: 1 Corinthians 10:1-12
10:1 Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
10:2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
10:3 And did all eat the same spiritual meat;
10:4 And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
10:5 But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
10:6 Now these things were our examples, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
10:7 Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
10:8 Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
10:9 Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.
10:10 Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed of the destroyer.
10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
10:12 Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall.
Message:
As we run the race that is set before us on the straight and narrow way to Heaven, it is possible to slip and fall. You should however note that falling or making mistakes along the way does not signify that an end has come to your life, ministry or destiny. There is no depth you can sink to that the mercy of God cannot draw you out of. If you genuinely ask God for forgiveness and mercy, His grace will surely lift you up. If you are still down in sin, it is time to come up into righteousness. Are you in a situation where it appears all hope is lost? No matter where you are, receive God’s touch of mercy at this very moment and come up again in Jesus’ Name!
There are ways to handle mistakes. One way is to learn from the mistakes of others so that you do not become the guinea pig. A Nigerian proverb says, “The one who falls into a pit is a lesson to others following from behind”. You can scream after seeing that fellow fall into the pit, but make sure you don’t end up in it yourself. Today’s reading tells us that the children of Israel who disobeyed God and were overthrown in the wilderness are lessons for us who are now on our way to the Promise Land of Heaven. It says we should not lust after evil things, because the Israelites did so and became casualties in the wilderness. It also says the reason why we should not serve other gods and commit fornication is that 23,000 of those Israelites who did the same perished in one day. It further says we should not tempt Christ like the Israelites did and died of snake bites. It even warns us of the dangers of murmuring, which some of us do very often. The Israelites murmured and were destroyed. When you see the pit your predecessors have fallen into, a wise follower will tread a lot more carefully to avoid ending up where they ended.
If you learn from the mistakes of others, you will not fall where they fell. And you will not perish where they perished; but if you fail to learn, you too will soon become a signpost that tells others not to follow the path you followed. How ironic it is for someone who was aware of the pitfalls that consumed others to end up in the same pit. This is what happens to those who never take warning seriously. Are you like that? Do you say “it doesn’t matter”? Yes, it does!
Prayer Point:
Father, let me never be a guinea pig. Make me an excellent example for others to follow.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Romans 1-3. Daniel 1.
IN JESUS CHRIST NAME. AMEN!
GOOD MORNING.
HYMN 9: ON THE HILL FAR AWAY
1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suff’ring and shame;
And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.
Refrain:
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it someday for a crown.
2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.
3. In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.
4. To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Commercial driver who raped Ekiti student ‘turns self in’...
A 21-year-old man who allegedly raped a female student of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti on September 17, has turned himself in, police said Friday.
The suspect was said to have committed the crime at about 8.00 p.m. while conveying the victim, who was returning from a hospital where she had gone for medical treatment. She was at the time the only passenger in the mini bus well known in local parlance as Akoto.
Mr. Ojolo, according to police report, suddenly changed his direction into a nearby bush where he raped the student. The incident caused a fight between students of the college and commercial drivers at Ikere Ekiti.
The uproar, which resulted in the destruction od properties, led the college’s management to close down the school indefinitely. The Police Public Relations Officer, Alberto Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, on Friday said the suspect was being held by thepolice.
Mr. Adeyemi said Ojolo turned himself to the palace of the Ogoga of Ikere, Oba Adejimi AduAlagbado, who then handed him over to the Police.
“Yes, the suspect is with us; the matter is under investigation and by the time we round off our investigation, the suspect will be charged to court,” he said.

People may be writing left and right; But we know the reasons why we lost in 2015, I’ll soon open up – Jonathan..
FormerPresident Goodluck Jonathan has promised to open up on what happened in the 2015 general elections, which led to the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) losing the presidential poll to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The former president has promised to speak, in due course.Jonathan said this at a meeting with the Forum of Ex-Speakers of State Houses of Assembly, who visited him in Abuja yesterday.
The former president said no matter what anyone says, the PDP recorded several achievements through innumerable reforms it introduced and implemented in the 16 years it ruled the country.
“PDP is still the strongest party. We know the reasons why we lost elections.
People may be writing left and right; at the appropriate time, some of these things would be properly addressed, because of history.
“There are certain things you don’t write now because it would be misunderstood, as if you are playing politics.“After some years, five, six or eight years, when the beneficiaries have left, you can state it in writing andpeople will not fight with you.
Speaking on the anti-corruption war, Jonathan urged party members not to be intimidated by the manner it is being prosecuted in the country.
The former president said the issue of corruption in the country is worrisome, and noted that there is need to combat it.He, however, noted that approach, in the fight against corruption, is also very important.“There are stories of corruption.
I say this will always be there because if you read the statement ofthe organisers of the first military coup, their statement was attributed to corruption.
“It will continue to be, but, one day, we will get out of it. Most nations passed through this stage of life.“The only thing I plead with you is not to politicise certain basic things. Issues of corruption, yes, it is worrisome. Nobody will encourage it.
“The society must come up with reforms, to reduce it, if you cannot eliminate it totally. No society is 100 percent free of some of these vices but the approachyou go about it is key.
You may approach it in a way that it will become detrimental to the society. It should be done in a way that will enhance the development of the nation. So, we encourage people to do well.

State governors are more powerful than the president – Obasanjo..

What is truefederalism? “Why are they not accountable? What powers do they not have?”, ““In fact, state governors are more powerful than the president.
That’s the truth,” ‘If anybody tells you they want devolution or true federalism, he doesn’t know what he is talking about. .

Fayose’s speech as he declares for 2019 ..
Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Thursday formally declared his intention to run for president in 2019 on the platform ofthe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Fayose said he will run a purposeful government that will cater for all Nigerians irrespective of religion or tribe.
He lamented the state of Nigeria and urged the party to support him become the country’s next leader.
Full text of his speech below…
“I welcome you all to this historic event, which is landmark in the political landscape of our country, Nigeria.
My inviting you today, distinguishedleaders of our party, is to inform youformally that I will be seeking the ticket of our great party, the PeoplesDemocratic Party (PDP), to contest the 2019 presidential election.
This is without prejudice to our party’s position. However, I am a supporter of competence and capacity, especially now that this country needs young and able leaders that can take our country out of this present state of hopelessness.
Most importantly, despite that the party has zoned the presidency to the North, it may interest you that no one has come out in this mannerto show interest and our party should not wait or beg anyone to fly its flag.
Do we now say that if no one comes out from the North, the party won’t have a candidate?Going down memory lane, in 1999 and 2003, despite that our party zoned the presidency to the South, the likes of Alhaji Abubakar Rimi of blessed memory and Chief Banabas Gemade contested the ticket.
Also in 2007, some party members from the South did not only declare their intention to contest, they also showed interest and obtained nomination Forms.
Those from the South were; Chief Victor Attah, Dr. Peter Odili, Dr. Sam Egwu, Dr. Donald Duke, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani, Owelle Rochas Okorocha among others.
This, in itself, assisted in deepening democracy. Our party must not lose sight that Nigerians at this period are desirousof a President with demonstrated capacity to change their fortunes.
Furthermore, we must be mindful of the fact that our party needs a candidate like me, with a penchant for defeating incumbents.
Twice, I defeated incumbents to become the Governor of Ekiti State and I am confident that with your support as my party leaders and supporters, I will defeat the incumbent President, Muhammadu Buhari, in a free and fair election.
Let me state that in Ekiti, God has used me twice for our party to regain power from the opposition and I believe same feat will be repeated at the national level.I do not stand before Nigerians today to present myself as one with the answers to all our national questions.
Rather, I present myself as one with the required knowledge, understanding, competence and, above all, the political will to coordinate the human and material resources that we have in abundance to achieve national greatness.Having served successfully as governor twice in a state with very meagre resources, I have by this garnered enough experience over time to prepare me well enough for the task of leading our country.
By the grace of God, I am the longest-serving governor in Nigeria today, having served under three Presidents – Obasanjo, Jonathan, and now Buhari.
Therefore, I can say expressly that I am well equipped in terms of knowledge, experience as well as physical and mental capacities to hit the ground running as soon as I assume office as President of Nigeria in 2019.Today, our country is faced with myriad of problems.
Our economy that was the fastest-growing in Africa when our party was in power has gone comatose, with the present managers who are completely clueless.
Scarcity of food last experienced when President Buhari was Military Head of State between 1983 and 1985 has returned to the country, with Nigerians going to bed daily onempty stomach.
Regrettably, a bag of rice that was N7, 000 when PDP was in government is now N17, 000!Allocation from the Federation Account to the three tiers of government has declined to such a level that most States can no longercarry out the basic obligation of paying workers’ salary.
Under the present government, our economy recorded its second worstinvestment inflow in 10 years. Exchange Rate that was N197/dollar in 2015 is now over N360/dollar.
In the area of security, which they leveraged on to come to power, despite claims by the government that Boko Haram was technically defeated; Nigerians are being killed by the insurgents while villages are being attacked in the North-East. Also, herdsmen are killing Nigeriansand destroying farmlands with reckless abandon while kidnapping is now on the rise.
Most worrisome is the fact that our country is now more divided than ever before, with the unity of the country being threatened due to nepotism, religious bigotry and favouritism of the present government.
Unemployment has risen to an alarming level. Instead of creating three million jobs per year as promised, millions of jobs are being lost daily, with many companies folding up.
This government has successfully wiped off the middle-class.Like they lied to win election, the APC government of President Buhari has been deceitful for over two years and an end must come to this deceptive government by 2019.
My party leaders, standing before you is Peter (The Rock) Ayodele Fayose, the man already destined by God to take Nigeria out of the present political and economic stagnations.
You are all witnesses to my commitment to this party in this difficult period, where I have demonstrated uncommon courage that makes me stand out as capableof leading our country at this time. Our economy will be revived and returned to the path of progress thatit was before we had the misfortune of having these clueless people in power.
We will ensure diversification of the economy through agriculture, adequate supply of power and massive industrialization, thereby creating employment for our youths. We can do it, and we will do it.With me as your President, you can be rest assured of a government that will be responsive to your needs.
You are guaranteed a federalgovernment that will relate with all Nigerians not on the basis of ethnicity, religion, political affiliations and the percentage of votes but on equity and justice as citizens of one nation, one people, and one destiny.
In Ekiti State where I am presently the governor, our success story in education is there for all to see. EkitiState was number 29th in 2014 NECO examinations but within two years, we were able to move the State to number one in 2016 and again in 2017.
Also in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Ekiti State’s performance, which was 25 percent in 2014, moved to 74.86 percent in 2017.
We were able to revive this sector because we placed our teachers in the driver-seat of our policies. We will do the same at the national levelbecause we are mindful of the fact that education is the bedrock of the development of any nation.
As a governor, I encouraged my children to attend schools here in Nigeria and I have never travelled abroad for Medicare. This, I hope to sustain as president of Nigeria by making sure that our schools and health facilities are of international standard.
Our justice system will be such that judges will not be molested and the common people of this country will see our courts as truly their last hope while our security system will make all Nigerians feel safe living in their own country. Our fight against corruption will not be selective but total. My party leaders, I present myself toyou as the needed vehicle for our party to move back to the presidency.
I am doing so because Iam confident that with God and all of you behind me, we can do it, and we will do it.
Thanks and God bless.”

Emmanuel, younger brother of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), has asked the army to produce the corpse of the Biafra agitator if he has been killed.
Kanu and his parents have not been seen in public since the military raided their Afarakwuresidence in Abia state on September 14.
Speaking on behalf of the family on Tuesday, Emmanuel, Kanu’s younger brother, said he strongly believed his brother fell into the hands of troops.“It is either they (soldiers) captured him or killed him when they attacked our house.
If they captured him, they should release him tothe police, and if they have killed him, they should produce the corpse because he was last seen moments before the raid,” he said. However, the army has denied keeping Kanu in its custody.A responder to the call put through to one of the telephone lines which Operation Python Dance released to the public dismissed the notion of Kanu being held.

He also denounced the “desecration of his father’s palace”, describing it as a dent on thedemocratic posture of the nation.
Kanu’s father is the traditional ruler of Afarakwu.Last week, traditional rulers of Umuahia northlocal government, demanded to know the whereabouts of the monarch and his wife.

Don’t waste time on 2019 Presidency, our candidate will come from the North - PDP tells Fayose..
The Peoples Democratic Party has told Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State not to waste his resources on his presidential ambition, saying the party’s candidate for the 2019 election will come from the North.
The party said all its members were aware of the zoning formula it adopted for both its presidential ticket and the position of the national chairman.
Fayose had sent letters to some leaders of the party to inform them about his decision torun for the Presidency on the platform of the PDP.
The event, according to a copy of the letter sent to Punch correspondent, will hold in Abuja on Thursday.
A source close to Jibrin, however, said the governor was reminded of the party’s zoning formula, to which Fayose was said to have responded that he was constitutionally qualified to run.
Sources at the party national headquarters told Punch correspondent that Fayose could be working to deny the South-West the opportunity of producing the party’s national chairman.

The president’s arrival on Monday evening led to a temporary blockage of the airport road, used by thousands of motorists who live in the Nigerian capital.
The President was received at the airport by his Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Muhammad Bello, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, among other dignitaries.

Politician gets 21-month jail term for sexting with 15-year-old girl
Former US congressman Anthony Weiner has been sentenced to 21 months in prison for sexting with a 15-year-old girl in a case which may have cost Hillary Clinton the presidency.
The former Democratic congressman from New Yorkhad faced up to 27 months in prison on Monday after his guilty plea to one charge of transferring obscene material to a minor.
Prosecutors say he broke the law by having illicit contact with a 15-year-old girl using Skype and Snapchat.Weiner’s sexting habit destroyed his career in Congress, his campaign for mayor and his marriage to Huma Adedin, a former aide to Clinton.
It also became an issue in the closing days of 2016 presidential election when then FBI Director James Comey cited emails discovered on a laptop used by Weiner to justify reopening the probe of Clinton’s private computer server.Anthony Weiner called his crime his “rock bottom” as he spoke just before a judge in New York City sentences him for his sexting crime.
Weiner fought back tears and occasionally cried Monday as he read from a written statement on a page he held in front of him in Manhattan federal court.
He said he was “a very sick man for a very long time.” He asked to be spared from prison. The Democrat’s lawyer, Arlo Devlin-Brown, had asked that Weiner serve no prison time. A prosecutor recommended he serve between 21 months and 27 months in prison.
FG to reintroduce tolls on federal highways..
The Federal Government on Monday said it would reintroduce tolling on the nation’s highways to raise the much needed funds to maintain the roads.
The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, stated this while addressing members of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, who visited him in his office in Abuja.
The minister’s position may be an endorsement of the Senate’s proposal in July for the return of tolls on federal roads and the setting aside of 0.5 per cent of transport farespaid by passengers on inter-state trips to generate funds for the rehabilitation and maintenance of roads in the country.
Fashola said that the tolling system would only be introduced to road projects that had been completed by the government.
The minister, according to a statement by the Director of Information in the ministry, Mohammed Ahmed, also said the government would spend N100bn to be raised from the issuance of the sukuk bond for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of 25 arterial roads.
The sukuk bond, which has been described as a safe and low-risk investment, is being issued by Debt Management Office with a seven-year tenor.

How I took six bullets and survived – Nollywood actor, Charles Okocha (Igwe Tupac)
Nollywood‘bad’ boy, Charles Okocha aka Igwe Tupac, has revealed how he was almost killed last year after a policeman shot him at close range in Asaba, Delta State.
Recalling the experience in a chat withTS Weekendrecently, Tupac narrated:“This is something I really don’t want to talk about because I went through a whole lot. It all happened sometime in December 2015 at Asaba, Delta State. I was at an occasion when my phone rang and I stepped outside to take the call.
As I was talking, I saw two guys standing byan Autobiography Range Rover. They were waving and hailing me.
I realised they were my fans so after taking my call, I went to meet them and we exchanged pleasantries and then got talking.
Wedding dreams
The actor continued: “One of the guys pointed at the white Range Rover and said ‘Igwe Tupac, this is my jeep. I just bought it. It is an Autobiography Range Rover. I am getting married in three days time. Igwe Tupac, what will it take for you to attend my wedding?’ I was like ‘congrats but we can’t talk here.Let us exchange numbers’.“While that was going on, a gun totting policeman came out of the compound and joined us. Probably he had been watching me all the while at the event.
He barged into us and was like ‘oh boy, I like this guy’s film’. He was obviously a fan so I felt compelled to listen to him. He kept blabbing that he had all my films. At a point, I was beginning to get tired, so I stepped aside.
But he came right after me and said ‘bros, na you I de talk to. Okay, let me throway one for you, to salute you. I be one of your biggest fans’.“Before I knew it, he had cocked his gun and fired into the air. I almost went deaf from the gunshot. However, he was probably drunk and lost control of his rifle, which was in rapid mode.
The guy who was getting married in three days time was hit in the ribs but he didn’t know. His friend was asking him, ‘were you shot?’ He said no but he was wrong! He had a bullet in the ribs and he died a shot while after. Sadly, that was the end of his marriage plans.”Did Tupac believe he was going to survive it? Hear him: “I never even knew I had been shot at that point in time but later I found out that my intestines were sticking out, and I passed out.
Gratitude
Immediately he was shot, Igwe Tupac was rushed tothe hospital and doctors extracted five bullets from his abdomen and another from his leg.
After spending two months in intensive care, he was finally discharged.“It’s a miracle that I survived at all. It was by the sheer grace of God. Five bullets pierced my abdomen and another one hit my leg and yet I survived, but the guy who was getting married took one bullet and died.
I have only God to thank for this new lease of my life.“These days when I see policemen bearing guns, I become wary and scared.
Who wouldn’t be after going through what I went through? I have been to a couple of occasions lately and when I see gun totting cops around me, I become very cautious, sometimes even hostile. I just have to protect myself.”
Upswing career
Like the popular saying, ‘what cannot break a man will only make him stronger’. Ever since the tragic incidence, Tupac’s career has been on the upswing.
“First thing first, I would say it is God. You know, like they say ‘without God nothing is possible’. It is not by my own making so I give it to God all the way.
Everything just started happening suddenly and herewe are today. It is not like I don’t get scripts but I am very selective. I don’t just hop on every set that comes along.
I have to scrutinise and make sure it isdope before I venture into any film project.“A while ago, I returned from my maiden US tour andit was cool. We toured four cities, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Texas and one other.
I want to use this opportunity to thank God for delivering me from the valley of the shadow of death and catapulting my career to new heights.”LessonsWhat lessons has the actor learnt from the experience? A smile breaks his features as he responds: “I have come to realise that without God we are nothing, and in order to succeed in life, we need to submit to Him.
I have come to realise that not every one that smiles at you is your friend. When I was discharged, I heard what some people said about me and it really hurt me, but I have forgiven them and moved on.

Diezani’s lawyer blocked us from interrogating her in UK – EFCC.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission says its investigative team has not been allowed to meet with the immediate past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, in the United Kingdom, where she has been staying since 2015 when investigation into her tenure began.
The commission stated in a counter-affidavit filed before the Federal High Court, Abuja, thatit had been investigating the ex-minister for various allegations of corrupt practices, including abuse of office, money laundering, stealing of public funds and illegal acquisitionof properties within and outside Nigeria.
But EFCC stated that its efforts to interrogate her over the allegations had been abortive as her lawyer, John Binns of BCL Solicitors, refused to allow the commission’s team of investigators, led by Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, to meet with her in the UK earlier in March this year.
The EFCC’s counter-affidavit was in responseto a motion filed by the former minister, seeking an amendment to the heading of the charges filed against a businessman, Mr. Olajide Omokore, and five others by adding her name to the list of defendants so that she could defend herself in respect of allegations against her in one of the nine counts.
A detective with the commission, Mr. Rufai Zaki, who deposed to the EFCC’s counter-affidavit, added that it was not yet possible to bring the former minister back to Nigeria as she was being investigated by the UK’s Metropolitan Police for several other financial crimes, saying the probe had reached an advanced stage.
Actor murders two friends to fund his wedding
A debt-ridden actor who killed two of his friends and dismembered one of them as part of a plot to steal money to pay for his wedding and honeymoon has been sentenced to death.
Daniel Patrick Wozniak, 32, will be put on death for the slaying of Afghanistan war veteran Samuel Herr and Julie Kibuishi in Southern California in 2010.
Orange County Superior Court Judge John Conley followed the recommendation of a jury he should be executed following the grisly deaths and his attempted cover-up.
Jurors had convicted Wozniak of the murders in December. A month later, a jury told prosecutors he should face capital punishment.“At the cost of two human lives, the defendant chosenot to get married inexpensively or to defer his honeymoon,” Conley said.
He wanted to do it in style, and he was willing to kill two people he knew to accomplish this.”Wozniak was debt-ridden in 2010 when he shot a neighbor, Herr of Costa Mesa, to steal $50,000 the Army veteran had saved from service in Afghanistan, prosecutors said.
Wozniak then used a ruse to kill Herr’s friend, Julie Kibuishi, and tried to make it appear Herr had raped and killed her, then fled, prosecutors said.
He also dumped Herr’s dismembered body in a park. The scheme unraveled, and Wozniak was arrested days later.

Corruption won’t end in Nigeria till Jesus comes —Prophet Abiara
There is no way corruption will end in Nigeriabefore Jesus Christ comes. There is corruption everywhere.
It is just that the way each country does theirs is different. But it seems the issue of graft in Nigeria is indescribable. It is disheartening the amount of money people steal in Nigeria.
They stole so much and keep them in bizarre places. Why do they do this knowing that one cannot live forever? I have come to realise that looters are only rich compared to wealthy people.
The difference between the two is that those who steal public funds are only rich.
They steal for their greed and self alone. But wealthy people work hard for their money. They work so hard to empower people by establishing firms where many work.
They are conscious that they have to leave legacieslong after their death. For example, Alhaji Aliko Dangote belongs to the group of the wealthy.
He empowers many and establishes companies so many can earn a living. My advice to the greedy ones among us is that they should strive to do work that will speak well for them after death.
The immediate past General Evangelist of the Christ Apostolic Church, Prophet Samuel Abiara, told Punch in a recent interview, when asked about the graft war of the current administration which some believe is selective and lacks the expected bite.

Couple cancels ceremony on wedding day, donates multimillion-naira reception to homeless.
A couple who cancelled their ceremony on the wedding day has opted to donate the $30,000 reception venue and the expensive food to the homeless people nearby.
Twenty-five-year-old Sarah Cummins and her fiancée had cancelled the wedding ceremony at the last minute on their wedding day, without giving any reasons whatsoever.
The pharmacy student of Purdue University and her then husband-to be had prepared a reception that was meant to sit approximately 170 guests.
Fantastically decorated, it’s the sort that dream weddings are made of.
However, once the would-have-been couple arrived at a decision to call off the wedding, they decided they throw open the reception venue to the homelesspeople in a facility nearby.
Her idea, to invite people from four area homeless shelters to enjoy the 170-person reception, was well received.
For me, it was an opportunity to let these people know they deserved to be at a place like this just as much as everyone else does,” Sarah said.“It’s a great opportunity to spread love.
Being homeless is kind of a big loss for all of these guys. This is just a very nice thing to do,” she added.

My Nigerian boyfriend planted cocaine in my bag, Russian death-row drug suspect alleges..
A 30-year-old Russian woman accused of being a cocaine mule faces the death penalty in Vietnam.
But Maria Dapirka, who has already written a ‘farewell letter’ to her mother, claims she was set up by her lover who posed as a top footballer.
Her lawyers have said she has accepted she may soon be executed, but still clings on to some hope she will be freed after three years in prison.
Dapirka, who lived in Thailand when she met her lover, known as Nick, was caught with almost 3kg of cocaine by Vietnamese customs on a flight from Singapore.
She said the cocaine was planted in her luggage by Nick — or ‘Chib Eze’ — who apparently has a penchant for seducing attractive young women before conning them into carrying drugs.
Dapirka’s verdict and sentence was due to be handed down by a Vietnamese judge on Thursday in a Ho Chi Minh city court, but the session was postponed ‘for further investigation’ for the fifth time.
In a letter to her mother Olga, a desperate Dapirka said she was ready for any decision by the court. She wrote: “Don’t worry about me. I am fine. I am ready for any end. I hope you will manage to visit me.“I’ve not seen you for four years. I miss you so much!
Please take good care of your health.”The Nigerian media has claimed the same man used different fake names to dupe dozens of other women with model looks to act as drugs mules.
His real name is not known.A campaign organised by Maria Dapirka’s friends calling for her release alleged that ‘a whole criminal syndicate of Nigerian men work in Asia and all around the world, like Maria’s so-called boyfriend.
Maria was caught with two nylon bags packed with cocaine in her hand baggage, and more wedged inside a magazine, at Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat International Airport in August 2014.
Popular tourist destination Vietnam has some of the most severe penalties for drug offences in the world.
People caught with even small quantities of hard drugs are liable to be executed.
More than two dozen foreigners are currently facing the death penalty or life imprisonment for drug trafficking offences.

Ooni of Ife reacts to split with wife..
The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has reacted to the declaration of his now ex-wife, Olori Wuraola, that she was out of the marriage for good.
Speaking through his aide, the monarch said he would speak on the matter ‘at the appropriate time.
The Ooni’s Director of Media, Moses Olafare, disclosed that the palace is aware of “all that have been written” and that there would be a response from the monarch soon.
Speaking to Nigerian Tribune he said: “the House of Oduduwa would maintain silence for now.’“In this era of social media, where people have free access to Internet, as constitutionally permitted by laws of the land, people can say anything.
In spite of all being said on the issue, decorum still requires that we in the House of Oduduwa maintain silence, at least for now.
This is because marriage is strictly a private matter that should not subjected to undue public uproar.
When it is necessary for us to talk, we will surely talk on the issue.”Meanwhile, despite the reactions that the news has generated and public empathy, Olori Wuraola has indeed moved on.
According to her, all that matters to her for now is providing aid for women and children across the world. She said, “My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence and abuse with the United Nations.
The two got married on March 16, 2016 with the monarch saying then when he took Wuraola for a wife that she was the choice of the gods.
After denials from the palace and from an aide of theking on August 15, that the marriage was intact and the couple still happily married, Olori Wuraola took to her Instagram handle on Wednesday that there is indeed a collapse.
Urging women to take a walk out of troubled marriages, the glamourous Olori also said in her statement:“What I can confirm is that the Ooni and I are no more.
I inhale love and exhale gratitude. My journey continues as a Humanitarian aiding women and victims of domestic violence & abuse with the UnitedNations.
No matter how much time you’ve invested, no matter the use of media to silence & manipulate, no matter the circumstance, slander, embarrassment, threats and lies: Get out and seek immediate help!”The Ooni got married to his now estranged Edo bride at an elaborate traditional marriage which held in Benin, the Edo State capital.
The wedding rites were performed in the traditional Benin culture at the residence of the bride on Ewere Street, Etete, in Oredo Local Government Area of the state.
Although the monarch was not physically present, his father, Oluropo Ogunwusi, represented him.
